Fall Into Change

With the fall season at our doorsteps many people, including myself, are slowly saying goodbye to the carefree summer months and preparing for the changing season of cool weather and hectic work and school schedules. The fall season is the perfect time of year to implement change and set goals for ourselves as a way to keep us focused, and motivated during the long winter months, which tend to keep us locked in a perpetual 9-5 grind that can drain us both emotionally and physically by the end of the work week. Any changes we make to our daily routine do not have to be over the top or cost you a lot of money. Simply changing, adding or removing things from your usual mundane routine can produce positive results in our social and professional lives, as well as increase our inner confidence and productivity levels when we are asked to complete a challenging task at work, school or at the latest PTA meeting. Here are a few exercises and activities I have personally incorporated into my routine as a way to keep myself energized, motivated and focused during the fall/winter months.

1. Feel Great Look Great

Not the other way around! As a certified image consultant I always encourage my clients to live an active and healthy lifestyle no matter what their reason's are for hiring me as their personal image coach. To completely experience the full benefits of a full image make over you must first begin with your body from the inside out. How do you physically feel on the inside? Are you actively participating in classes at your local gym, do you take at least 5-10 minutes in the morning for a quick walk around the corner before starting your day, and do you take (quality) time to eat breakfast or dinner with the kids and husband, or are you constantly in go, go, go mode from the time you hit the snooze button on the alarm clock in the morning until you go to bed in the late hours of the night? Simply tweaking how we begin or end our day will definitely produce a positive and energized feeling within us that will enable us to work smarter, not harder.

2. Create The Space

Creating a private, quiet space in your home or office has proven to be a great method for de-cluttering the mind when it is in overdrive during the busy working day. If you choose to create your bubble space at home, find an area where there is low traffic, such as the attic, guest bedroom or basement. If you are not a home owner this will take a little imagination - make a bold sign and post it on your bedroom door stating "YOU WILL BE IN YOUR BUBBLE FOR THE NEXT 15-20 MINUETS" grab yourself a glass of wine, hot chocolate or fruit smoothie, your favorite magazine and simply soak up your bubble time until you feel you are reconnected and charged. Understandably, if you are at the office doing this exercise will not be appropriate - but you can always go for a walk on your lunch break, read a book in the park or try that new pumpkin spiced latte you have been meaning to get your hands on. The point is to implement subtle changes into your routine as a way to keep yourself energized and motivated!

3. Spice Things Up

Lets face it; every now and then we need an image revamp to keep us looking our best. In a recent study conducted by http://www.dailymakeover.com found that "75 percent of people feel that makeovers are really about enhancing BOTH your inner spirit and your appearance. They also reported "78 percent of the respondents feel that makeovers are more about helping someone feel more confident than about improving their looks". As such, how we treat and care for our bodies on the inside (Tip 1) will naturally transcend to the outer, thus affecting how we are perceived by others, but also reflecting how we truly feel about our own self-image. Small changes, such as changing your nail color (vibrant fall color), booking that long over due hair appointment for a new style or haircut, or adding pops of vibrant color to your existing wardrobe will definitely spice up your social and professional attire; as a result increasing your chances of expanding your social and professional networking connections!

Remember to always walk in the presence of your authentic style.
